Ozzy Osbourne

Black Sabbath or the Ozzy Osbourne band has been on my playlist for the last few days. they have a dramatic history with classic rock and roll stories like band members dying in tragic plane crashes, alcohol and drug abuses kinda stuff.

there is this really nice song; Goodbye to Romance.

YESTERDAY HAS BEEN AND GONE
TOMMOROW WILL I FIND THE SUN
OR WILL IT RAIN
EVERYBODY'S HAVING FUN EXCEPT ME I'M THE LONELY ONE
I LIVE IN SHAME

I SAY GOODBYE TO ROMANCE [YEAH]
GOODBYE TO FRIENDS, I TELL YOU
GOODBYE TO ALL THE PAST
I GUESS THAT WE'LL MEET,
WE'LL MEET IN THE END

I'VE BEEN THE KING, I'VE BEEN THE CLOWN
NOW BROKEN WINGS CAN'T HOLD ME DOWN
I'M FREE AGAIN
THE JESTER WITH THE BROKEN CROWN
IT WON'T BE ME THIS TIME AROUND
TO LOVE IN VAIN

I SAID GOODBYE TO ROMANCE [YEAH]
GOODBYE TO FRIENDS, I TELL YOU
GOODBYE TO ALL THE PAST
I GUESS THAT WE'LL MEET,
WE'LL MEET IN THE END

AND I FEEL THE TIME IS RIGHT ALTHOUGH I KNOW THAT YOU JUST MIGHT SAY TO ME
WHAT YOU GONNA DO
WHAT YOU GONNA DO

BUT I HAVE TO CHECK THIS CHANCE
GOODBYE TO FRIENDS AND TO ROMANCE
AND TO ALL OF YOU
AND TO ALL OF YOU

COME'ON NOW!

I SAID GOODBYE TO ROMANCE [YEAH]
GOODBYE TO FRIENDS, I TELL YOU
GOODBYE TO ALL THE PAST
I GUESS THAT WE'LL MEET,
WE'LL MEET IN THE END

AND THE WEATHER'S LOOKING FINE
AND I THINK THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN
AND I FEEL I'VE CLEANED MY MIND
ALL THE PAST IS LEFT BEHIND AGAIN

I SAID GOODBYE TO ROMANCE [YEAH]
GOODBYE TO FRIENDS, I TELL YOU
GOODBYE TO ALL THE PAST
I GUESS THAT WE'LL MEET,
WE'LL MEET IN THE END

the band changed a few guitarists after Randy Rhoads died in a tragic plane crash(1982), the guitarist now is Zakk Wylde. amazing guy whom occupied the lead guitarist position of the band thus far since 1988. -wikipedia, 2006

ok, back to personal opinions now. Zakk Wylde plays lots of pentatonic scales, especially the minor pentatonic. i downloaded his lessons and i got so bored after awhile cause he based almost everything on the minor pentatonic scale in the key of A minor. his playing is really choppy due to his pick attack, and it sounded pretty boring after awhile.

if your aim is to achieve crazy shredding on the guitar, go for the John Petrucci Rock Discipline Lessons. i personally think its quite educational as he takes you step by step to achieving speed and more importantly accuracy. however, you would need to invest in a metronome as he bases his teachings on it heavily.

another great guitar virtuoso whom can teach relatively well is paul gilbert. he has really improved as a tutor over the years. his earlier video were so-so, you kinda get what he wants to bring across. but now, paul gilbert teaches guitar like a professor. he states the benefits and objectives of the exercise precisely and clearly. truely impressive, below is an example.

owell, guess there is nothing i cant play. just that i have yet to learn or practice. =P
